In order for your character to live in Meadow View, your character should, well, have someplace to actually live! This doesn’t mean your character is just limited to a house though, as with most things on this forum, you can be creative. Your character can live at the inn, above their shop, in the wilds of Meadow View hunting bears, etc! The important thing is what fits your character’s background. It’d be a bit strange for a guy from a normal background with a normal job to have a mansion!
Another thing to note is that if your character is a farmer or rancher, their home will be at their farm/ranch.
When you are ready to create your home--or room at the inn--just PM The Mayor with the following application filled out, with area of home indicating the subforum you want your home in and title indicating what you want your home subforum to be titled. The Mayor will make you your subforum for your character’s housing.
Area of Home: Title:
When your subforum is created, you should create a description thread of your home and The Mayor will pin the topic for you. This will help any visitors to your home have an idea of what it looks like. After that, you are free to create threads as you like!

Depending on your character’s background, they will most likely need a job to provide them with income. In addition, having an occupation is a great way to contribute to roleplays! What occupation your character will have is up to you, though. As long as it is fitting to the theme of this forum, you are free to be as creative as you like.
If your occupation requires some sort of building or location—a store or a farm for example—you will need to PM The Mayor to clear it with him first. If it doesn’t need any accommodations, then feel free to go ahead and put it on your character application without contacting The Mayor.
If you want to run a shop, check the bottom of this post for the shops already in the village. We would like a variety, as it would be a bit silly for there to be five bakeries and no general store.
If you’re having trouble, some examples of what this village might need are: a blacksmith,a farming and feed store, a restaurant, a fisherman, etc. This is by no means a comprehensive list, nor are you limited to these.
Additionally, occupations have been reserved for those who had them prior to year 1, but if we do not hear from them by February 28th on whether they still want them, they will go to whoever asked for it first. So if you are interested in a reserved one, please PM the Mayor.

Meadow View follows the Harvest Moon tradition of using heart rates to represent how you feel about the other villagers. For those unfamiliar with the system, a general gist of the heart rates, separated into romantic and friend levels, is:
– Hate / Heartbroken – Annoyance and Dislike / Romantically Repulsive – Indifferent – Acquaintances / Interested In – Friends / Attracted To – Good Friends / Light Crush – Besties / Serious Crush – Like Family or Family / Dating – In love – Married
This isn’t to say that you can’t interpret the levels your own way. We welcome creativity and these are only guidelines. A good way to keep track of your character’s heart levels is to record them in their character diary!
Another thing to note is that, while this isn’t something that would be enforced exactly, it is preferable that your characters take their time to get to know each other and don’t zoom through the ranks and get married after only like fifteen days of knowing each other, unless you’re specifically keeping with your character’s personality when doing so. Generally, a heart rank shouldn't advance any more than one level per interaction.
If your characters have reached the level where they want to tie the knot, both parties must PM The Mayor and he will prepare a wedding ceremony for them where the whole village can come wish them well.
On the other hand, if there is trouble in paradise, both parties—unless one has been inactive for some time—must PM The Mayor to get a divorce.

Journals are an excellent way to keep track of your character’s activities and relationships in the village. There is a board specifically for these here. We only ask that the beginning of your journal topic starts with your character’s name. The format of your journal beyond this is entirely up to your discretion, but if you are feeling at a loss, here are some ideas to include:

Meadow View runs on a season system. Every three months in real life is equal to one season in game. This means that in the course of one real life year, one roleplay year will go by. The current season is listed in the sidebar. The roleplay dates are listed in white and the darker numbers correspond to the actual, in real life date. You can see that (with very few exceptions), three days in real life equal one day in the roleplay. This is to prevent feeling rushed in the roleplay.
