Name: Mira Faulkner
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Birthday: Winter 7
Occupation: Farmer (Livestock)
Personality: Quiet and pensive, Mira is a woman of few words and even fewer fast friends. Mira's first impression tends towards that of someone who prefers the company of her animals over that of her fellow humans. In fact, she's likely to admit as much. Though not outgoing, Mira isn't shy, and has a tendency to speak plainly and without regard for social politesse and posturing. She simply finds the energy needed to interact socially with others overwhelming.
This doesn't mean that she is purposefully rude or unfriendly, though; to those who can justify an effort to befriend them, she'll reveal a dry sense of humor, endless curiosity, and a strong, determined work ethic that she'll happily put behind a friend in need's cause. Her generous nature is well guarded from those who would take advantage, but its rarity only makes it more valuable when it is freely given.
Appearance: Mira is of average height (approx. 5'7") and average build, with a pear-shaped figure that leaves her normal uniform of overalls and a jacket tight in the hips but loose on top. She has dark, coffee-colored skin and brown, almond-shaped eyes, and a smattering of even darker freckles across her nose and cheekbones. Her hair is coarse, slightly curly and dark blond, and she wears it in a rough-cut shag haircut just past her chin. The sheer volume of her hair has a tendency to make her oval-shaped face seem rounder and cuter than it actually is and, on a rare point of vanity, she refuses to either thin it out or grow it longer, even if a ponytail would be more practical.
Since her occupation is in animal husbandry, she typically wears a plain t-shirt or tank-top under a pair of all-purpose jean overalls, overalls tucked into a sensible pair of work boots. Along with a khaki-colored canvas jacket she tends to wear all seasons except in summer and a pair of hardy working gloves, the overalls make up her regular uniform.
She tends to only dress up for certain festivals or, in the summer, will take to leaving her jacket at home and wearing a pair of overalls with shorts instead of the longer, hotter choice.
Background: Mira used to live in the city and attended a community college after high school, studying History and Natural Science. Unfortunately, upon graduation, she realized that there were very few job positions that would cater to her specialties outside of museums, and most of them were not willing to do more than offer internships and, sometimes, would not even take free labor when offered. She ended up taking unfulfilling office jobs and working retail for eighteen months before deciding that she had to leave the city and its barrage of pointless people and activity and find something that truly spoke to her. At the time, the only thing that truly spoke to her was isolation-- so she moved to Meadow View.
Though her farm is quite small, consisting of only one cow, two sheep, and a rather excitable cat named Colin, she finds the challenge of providing for herself and carving out a life of self-sufficiency gives her a purpose and goal where the city gave her only confusion. Unlike the city, where she felt barraged by people she barely knew but who all had demands on her time and effort, she now has plenty of time to herself, and has formed uncomplicated bonds of affection with each of her livestock and pets.
Likes/Dislikes: Mira is a hard person to win over, but engaging her in her interests is the fastest of all of the slow ways to win her friendship. She has a deep passion for both nature and history, and so items such as books on local history or culture and unusual flowers or fossils make very good gifts. She also tends to judge people by how they get along with animals; if you brush or pet animals in her presence or give her quality livestock products that prove your own animals are well taken care of, she is like to be impressed. Conversely, if the products you give her are sub-par or if she sees you abusing an animal, you are guaranteed to lose any respect she might have for you and it'll be very, very hard to earn it back. She also has a weak stomach, so any gifts of food should be well-made and simply flavored!
