Hey!
So I've noticed a lot of folks making residents of Meadow View that are born and raised in our beautiful little village. So Emily and I thought we could make a little planning post where we hash out their ~relationships~ with each other and decide how these folks know each other.
I'll start by giving a little information about my guy, our town Carpenter.
The Carpenter family was a prominent one in the construction of Meadow View. Most buildings were constructed by the guild of carpenters the family used to run. Roscoe is the only remaining member of the family though, his father died last year. Roscoe's been an apprentice under his dad since he was 10 and prior to that had limited schooling. I don't know, we don't have any sort of teacher here, but I'm going to pretend that was something we had. Meadowview probably needs a school. (To anyone still trying to figure out what kind of character they want, consider a teacher that's over the age of 21 potentially?) Anyway, he's a proud and confident short, stocky guy who knows that he has really prominent abilities in carpentry. But he's a little socially inept and easily insulted.
So I've established a few relationships thus far. Roscoe and Benny were neighbors growing up and are friends. Roscoe and Davis are friends somehow.
I'd love to establish some sort of relationship with other members.
Davis wasn't born in Meadow View, but he has been there for three years so it is probably he has met some of you! I will also give out some information.
Davis came to the town not really knowing what he was doing there and was suckered convinced to try and run this dilapidated farm and shack, despite farming being one of the few fields he has no experience in. He was a bit lost and inept for a while, but he has since gained conviction in what it is he does and is actually pretty decent at it now. He likes to talk to people and help out and is generally just a loud guy, while also not very confident in himself.
Like it was stated, Davis and Roscoe are friends, but it'd be really cool to have a few more relationships already formed with townsfolk who have been here in the last three year period to flesh things out :>

Ah! Davis should have gone into town and went to the Carpentry just shouting that he needed help and Roscoe's dad examined the house and told Roscoe to help him with it and they fixed up his house for free because they felt sorry for him as long as Davis knew he owed them a few of his GRADE S crops once they were grown. hueheueheuhe
And so Roscoe hung with Davis as he fixed up his house and Lance helped give him a good start and ESTABLISH THE MEANING OF MEADOWVIEW AND THE IMPORTANCE OF FARMING.
oh my gosh DAVIS JUST SHOWED UP AT THE FOOT OF THEIR CARPENTRY BEING LIKE "I NEED HELP WITH EVERYTHING" because there was a hole in his wall and he had to sleep on the dirt and he was scared all night that like wolves were gonna break in and eat him
Can Roscoe have made him his chicken coop for like his birthday last year because that would be super cute I'd cry

I dunno if it counts, but I was going to play Mira as if she's been here for a season; maybe a season and a half, since she would have needed to repaint the barn and buy her livestock. So, fairly new, and considering she both a) isn't usually super social and b) it was winter for one of the seasons, maybe it would make sense that people have seen her around and know she's there, but haven't had more than a few professional, "I want to buy this/find out about that." "Okay well here it is." kind of conversations? It would make sense if she talked to Roscoe about how to fix up her barn when she first moved in.
I was also going to come up with excuses for her to talk to some of the other townsfolk anyway, possibly leading up to her becoming interested in trying to participate in a Festival.

Oh she definitely could have talked to Roscoe about fixing up the barn! It can have been just a little professional going on where he went in and listened to his hard rock instead of being social, but they'd at least know each other and make it easier for her to approach him.
I like the excuses you've come up with on her little log. Great idea!
Ah Davis would probably be aware of her but since she is like not social and he was probably getting ready for his sister to come live with him maybe they haven't really met yet?

Sounds good to me. I'll add Roscoe to her Address book.
Yeah! I thought it'd be nice. Especially for characters who aren't outgoing naturally, it's always good to have goals that your character wants to meet-- it forces them to actually go out and do things, meet people, etc. You can't always wait for something out in the environment to force them to interact or explore, so it's best to give them reasons to do it themselves. Even if it's just "find out how to plant a small kitchen garden."
Sure, makes sense. I'll probably have Mira approach Davis as one of the people she'll ask about how to start a garden though, so that can solve that.

This is great! I like the idea of having some of their relationships already figured out!
Here's a little bit about Benny: He lived in Meadow View until he was 12, before going off to the city to go to a fancy school. But his mom got sick a few years back and he came home to run Harper's Groceries, the family business. Unfortunately, she passed away, but Benny stayed in town and is now established as the town's grocer. He's the kind of guy who is acquaintances with everyone because they meet at his shop, but otherwise is slow to build friendships.
As previously stated, Benny and Roscoe are childhood friends, but I would imagine he also knows Davis, Mira, and anyone else who has been around for more than a week or so. Davis probably bought seeds and gardening equipment from him at some point, and Mira probably bought feed for her livestock?
Titan's a few years younger than most of the natives, so I don't imagine he'd be super close with anyone. I imagine most of the relationships he'd have with anyone would be either "that little shit that lived down the street from me" or old friends from childhood. His family likes to throw a lot of parties, so that's also a possibility. Also, anyone who has a sweet tooth and frequents his family's bakery would probably be well acquainted with him.
He's pretty loud and likes to talk, so it'd probably be hard for him to slip by anyone's radar, even if they've never hung out as friends.

Since it's a pretty small town, Titan is probably at least known. I want to say I'm a huge fan of his concept by the way. And his name. Titan the albino wow. It killed me.
Anyway, I can see Roscoe being annoyed by him being a rude little punk, which it seems like he is hahaha. They have already made food at the bakery, so he's probably visited there a bit. Probably doesn't have a well established relationship with Titan though, besides him being a punk.

I could see Titan pulling pranks on Benny, or pushing him around a little, even though Benny's older. Benny probably sees him as kind of difficult, but he's really patient, so he's probably still friendly towards Titan. They probably weren't friends as kids though, because of the age difference. What do you think?
Roscoe Carpenter: Sounds good to me. I imagine Titan might poke a lot of fun at Roscoe for being illiterate and being a carpenter because he's an inconsiderate punk.
@benny: Actually what I was thinking too!!! Titan probably considers Benny a friend. In the "sometimes get this guy to do things for me and he doesnt threaten to punch me in the mouth" sense. He might not act really friendly towards him though, just cause that's how he is, but I can see Titan coming around the grocery when he's bored and trying to get Benny to do shenanigans with him.

Ah, for Benny, since he sells produce and Davis like grows... produce... and the route to other towns is a bit much, does Benny buy crops from him? Because it can be kawaii and Davis will like come see him every morning with stuff! So they're like friendly with each other but don't super know each other yet?
I feel like Davis would've seen Titan more in the beginning (Titan is really great btw) when he was getting started with his farm and had to go other places to eat? I feel like Titan would vaguely remind him of his little sister and he'd probably treat him as being younger than he actually is due to that haha.

Titan: Yes, perfect! Benny probably considers Titan a friend, even though he runs him around. And he doesn't mind Titan hanging around the shop, he likes the company (even if it's grouchy, pretending to be bored and complaining about how hot/cold/whatever it is outside company, haha). I bet Titan disappears whenever Roscoe comes over, though.
Davis: Yeah, Benny probably gets a lot of his produce from Davis now that his farm's up and running! He probably gets his seeds and some other stuff from the closest big city (he rides his bike there once a week or so), and he lets Davis have first dibs on the new stuff. I think Benny thinks that Davis is really cool, but in that kind of 'friend of a friend that I would like to get to know better' sort of way, if that makes any sense.

Benny: Sounds good to me! I'll add the friendship to Titan's journal when I make it!!
Davis: Being treated younger than he is by Davis would probably piss off Titan a lot even if that's now Davis' intention so he probably attempts to act mature around him and tries to get him to take him seriously. He's used to being the irritator, not the irritated, so he doesn't push Davis' buttons much and tries to be a little civil towards him. I don't see them being much more than acquaintances though.

Benny! They probably knew each other growing up, and had a kawaii awkward reunion when Benny came back. And now they're friendly. Maybe they were in contact when they were both in the big city? And got coffee/tea when they both had time off from school?

I would imagine Ariadne doesn't know a lot of people, being a traveller! She's pretty social though it brings in good business. I'd say she's been around for maybe like? Half a season or so, that seems about right. Just the right amount of settled.
